Single Rescuer CPR

 

  • Perform Initial Assessment
  • If no movement, breathing, or pulse-Perform CPR
  • Adult/Child-Place the heel of one hand on the center of the chest.
    • Place the other hand on top.
    • Give 30 chest compressions
    • Child-compress 1 to ½ inches.
    • Give 2 Rescue Breaths
  • Infant- place 2 or 3 fingers on the center of the chest, below
    • the nipple line-Give 30 Chest Compressions ½ to 1 inch.
    • Give 2 Rescue Breaths. Rescue breaths should last about 1 second.
  • Do cycles of 30 compressions to 2 rescue breaths at 100 compressions per minute.
  • Once CPR is started do not stop unless:
    • EMT’s arrive and take over
    • An AED arrives and is ready to use
    • The victim shows obvious signs of life (breathing and or movement)
